Golf Swing Tips: Improve Your Game By Rotating Your Hands Through The Ball

The main focus of today’s lesson is to make sure you are in the perfect position at the point of impact. The angle of the club head will determine the outcome of your shot whether that is hitting it straight, slicing it, hooking, etc. Now grab one of your irons and perform your regular swing. What we want to look for is the position of your hands and forearms at the point of impact.

When you are at the impact position make sure that you are keeping your wrists straight and locked. If you let your wrists bend to the left or right at impact your shot will most likely result in a slice which is not what we want. This bending of the wrists is what is known as a “wrist break”. So keep your wrists straight. Also, we need to “flip” our hands at the point of impact. There is an easy exercise that I have to help you master this technique….

The Wrist Watch Exercise

In order for you to learn the proper technique you need to see it in action. This can be done easily by using a simple wrist watch. So go grab a watch and let’s get started…

Are you ready? Do you have your watch on? Now, as your leading arm approaches impact, the watch face should be pointing at your target, more than likely this is going to be the flag. When you reach this position, simply ROTATE the watch face so it’s pointed at the ground. You can see that this move makes your trailing wrist and forearm “flip” on top of your leading wrist and forearm. Grab a club and repeat this movement until it seems completely natural within your golf swing.

Mastering the technique of rotating your wrists through the ball at impact forces your club face to stay closed and will significantly reduce your slice and improve your distance. Those two things will definitely help anyone’s golf game.

While you are trying to master this golf swing tip, you need to make sure your forearms are working together. Your forearms should be as close to one another as possible through the impact zone. If you can implement this simple technique you will benefit from longer, straighter shots, and a lower golf score :)
